Extended Learning Program Step–by-Step

Here is the gist of the Extended Learning Program implementation process.  Review and comment:

  1. In our proposal to the state (draft ready August 24), we incorporate needs assessment information from the schools as communicated to you by the principals by this Friday.  I have asked the principals to make sure that they include input from their leadership teams and include a career ladder II and/or III teacher in the process.
  2. We communicate the categories of activities to principals to share with their faculty.  Teachers can submit requests to principals for consideration.
  3. Upon receiving notification from the state department about the amount of money we have available, we will set a dollar amount for each school.  We will take into consideration any summer remediation/readiness programs to ensure that they are continued as a priority.
  4. Principals will determine the activities that line up with their school improvement plan and approve them according to the guidelines.  The principal will submit the information to you and we will approve all funding prior to the activity occurring.
  5. If a principal has more hours than staff requests, then we will convene a committee of you, me, principal representatives and teacher representatives to determine a prioritized list of activities to fund taking into account all schoolsÕ needs.
  6. At the end of the contract period, all required documentation from the teachers (accountability form, student sign-in forms, student/parent evaluation form and program evaluation form) will be turned into the principal who will submit the verification report form to you.  Teachers are to keep a copy of their documentation for three years, and we keep documentation on file for three years in the event of an audit.
  7. You will request payment for extended learning contracts to Becky.
