LSSD English Learner Teacher Fluency Plan

The Lebanon Special School District has a plan to ensure that all teachers working with English Learners (ELs) are fluent in all four domains of language (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). The plan is as follows:
During the teacher interview process the candidate is interviewed by a minimum of two people. The supervisors doing the interview take notes regarding the responses of each candidate. It becomes evident through the question and answer process whether or not the candidate is fluent in listening and speaking. The candidate is asked to read a passage and answer comprehension questions on the application to determine reading comprehension. To determine whether writing fluency has been attained the supervisory team reviews each candidate’s written application.
