Registration Process 2012-2013

Beginning March 28, 2012, students currently attending a school within the Lebanon Special School District will bring home paperwork denoting whether or not they will be attending school in the Lebanon Special School District for the 2012-2013 school year. This paperwork must be returned to the student’s school by Wednesday, April 4, 2012. In previous years, parents/guardians have received two separate packets of information, a Stay Home Packet and a Return Packet.  In an effort to streamline the registration process for the 2012-2013 school year, parents/guardians will now receive all required documentation on Registration Day, July 23, 2012.  If you are unable to attend Registration Day (July 23, 2012), please contact your child’s school on or before July 23, 2012 to register your child appropriately.

Registration for students in the Lebanon Special School District will be held on Monday, July 23, 2012 from 8am-1pm at the student’s zoned school (Byars Dowdy, Castle Heights, Coles Ferry, Sam Houston, Walter J. Baird Middle, Winfree Bryant Middle).  All parents must provide proof of residency at the time of registration, which may include a utility and/or phone bill identifying the name and address of the parent/guardian; notarized letter from a manager/landlord if utilities are included in a rent payment; or property tax bill supported by other acceptable documents that contain proof of residence (i.e. drivers license, etc.).

Supply Fee

Each student is requested to bring $10 for miscellaneous supplies.  This money may be paid on Registration Day (July 23, 2012) at your child’s school or as soon after that date as possible.  (Please do not send the money prior to registration for this next school year.)  Check your child’s school website for a list of supplies for your child’s grade.  Supply lists are also available at the school and often at local stores.

Student Transfer Procedures

The Lebanon Special School District will be accepting transfer requests from March 28, 2012 through April 18, 2012 for out of zone requests (from your zoned LSSD school to another LSSD school) and out of district requests (from another district into Lebanon Special School District).  All requests submitted within this time frame will be given priority, with out of zone requests receiving first priority.
The status of transfer requests received during the above time period (March 28-April 18, 2012) will be communicated to families by the first week of June. Transfer requests will be accepted after April 18, 2012, and the status of these requests will be communicated in July.

If you are interested in applying (or reapplying) for an out of zone or out of district transfer for your child so that he/she may attend one of the Lebanon Special School District schools, the “Request for Student Transfer” form must be completed and submitted to the Central Office located at 701 Coles Ferry Pike.
The request will be reviewed by the appropriate administrator(s) before the Director’s Office provides final approval.  If your request is made after school is out for the summer, you must complete the form at our Central Office or download our form from our website and mail to our Central Office.

Each transfer request will be reviewed and approved, denied, or revoked depending on space availability, chronic misbehavior, and/or chronic attendance issues.  As stated above, transfers within the Lebanon Special School District are for a one-year time period (applicable school year) and are given reconsideration on an annual basis.

Once a student establishes an athletic record at one school, he/she is not eligible to participate for one calendar year in athletics at another school within the district without a bona fide change of residency.

No transportation will be provided for students on approved transfers.
