Lebanon Special School District February Board Meeting

okay recognition of management project Adam yes sir Miss Sheila come on up there my name is Angel I am a nurse from Vanderbilt Children's Hospital but I'm here today on behalf of private data and I are here to both thank your nose painting and your schools and also awarded me with the recognition Pride Adam started back in 1999 and we go around and provide support to schools to help them Implement emergency response plan around a cardiac Emergency Center CPR AED training Lebanon Special School District have revered I have demonstrated that they have taken very intense roast out and being prepared for cardiac emergencies I'm making sure their staff prepared and that they have implemented response team and that they practice those responses by doing annual add drill so when that occurs as to submit paperwork and then we designate them Community we have over 373 Hartford School in Middle Tennessee and you guys so you guys join that large group and I will just say it's this program and the work that your nurses do ensure that your schools are safe it's saving lives and acting like that with the 18 year old saves his last week in Lincoln County during halftime of the district district basketball game collapsed in that locker room that those schools music. teachers and coaches manufactory what to do so thank you thanks for allowing me to be here and thank you to the nursing inexpensive she has a banner and tell that we will just meet us at the half hosts are you going to hang up if they like our nurses are we are The Arc Trainers so we do instructor so we've been classes during the summer and various times and we've the yearly training with our teachers so I am just last week or with you this last week we had three and apparent collapse right at one of our school so it's in forest with that are real or common respond and that's hard to say 15 we haven't so we just wanted to say I appreciate this we turned in our paperwork more but we've been doing this though oh yeah we have a phenomenal group and and knows that have been in school I mean you take care of have a great trip this is greatly Facebook and she's at Castle Heights this is Carrie Cunningham she's at Sam Houston this is Christina. actually I was getting in her and she is at Bryant and what time is Carla and she is at Jonesboro it had to get everybody straight and I'm looking for my I have two daughters one is Kim bear that took Walter J Baird so we do have a nurse in every school and we think that's very important we have lots of procedures and kids that are haunted maze we are thankful for the support that you get that is Adam staying for automated defibrillators in Adams memory so his family back in 1999 and cuz I lost her son cardiac arrest in the middle of the high school basketball games started this and so one tragedy sparked a program that is now in 32 seconds and it's growing every day so we do have a a z in every do believe it's raining all day. They have a good response we had to kind it hooked up with our local winner and so we have everybody. I think we have tend to think Lena volunteers from from Aaron and then give them away to get involved I know there's a lot of family that want to get involved are just looking for that opportunity to get involved and especially in in the elementary schools you don't want to get in the middle of the time in hospital lifetimes you'll have your rebounders Club where you're supposed to go do stuff like that but for sure in your Elementary so I would encourage you guys to to look up a plan of how we can move forward to do that thank you Down Under Jenna Jennifer go mini fridge many minutes from the previous meeting your business on my trip yes sir we had executive approval Walter J Baird excited to say they're competitive cheer team qualified for Nationals and Walt Disney World they had a time crunch to get that application in because of the last competition but I wanted to bring It Forward just before Google Batman and they are signed up ready to go most weeks to approve the trip Disney World do disciplinary hearing. class for student disciplinary hearing a field I took Google questions I shall return packet here we can't do guess I'm just going to read through we have a packet on the student disciplinary and I read through it and I just had a couple questions this morning to come and make sure because where I mean 58 50th state that we're seeing more about this stuff this is my problem what is that means they just like a what is Mike going to jump in there on that day and identify Bay that could be the kids are still testing test that are given to the sheriff's deputies control everybody right and it'll just be is positive and that's where the th so is this can be legally purchase right by an adult 18 right now I don't know anything that is illegal Katie Reynolds is it legal for an adult or a so if that okay how ever I mean you can get your hands on you could probably get her hands on him at a local bait shop behind it all. Now I'm sure it's like you mail order there is a possibility where kids could mail over these nights and think that okay I don't them is through some type of mail order to California or wherever it is play kobra and then the ship will be in and I would assume locally there's probably places you could go so when we find any type of no because some are strictly nicotine that would that would be illegal for an adult it is illegal for a juvenile I don't I don't know you'd all just who what kind of bait that is because there's there's Delta a Delta 9 and then once you get onto Delta 10 on up that's what pretty much is will have the THC in it from some of the yes you can refill them but most I figured that wasn't there supposed to go buy another one it's kind of technical to because there are Delta 9 that if they're over .03% of each see because they could have did see that just came free in Tennessee so it gets really technical while there's been several of attorneys that I talked to both for adults and juveniles that face the same problem in our courts right I know you went to court is Prosecuting these and it is it is an initiative across the state that babes are one of the leading issues in middle school and high school bordering states that do allow for marijuana and so I guess this is the only thing I'm asking this and I was looking at the file he was kind of interesting to look at this question cancer that we have consistency with this because decision-making process is going to be important we do I think we're going to see a lot more this unfortunately working with youth groups this is stuff I never thought I'd really have to deal with anyways. Cigarette smoking is bad now all of a sudden we have all these other options taste like you know candy cane practice the way we do in our district right if it test positive for THC in a in a sheriff's office field test then we can't it's considered to be teased and then we do our role which is this route in the Sheriff's Office doesn't know, if this if this particular pin had not had thc and it was just a bait it would not have been correct Sub Zero Tolerance is that the drugs had that would there have been some consequences if it had not tasted if it were just a vape pen 00, which has a specific action under the wall electronic watches turn all this different stuff and I don't know and it was kind of interesting to this ball is not with this but the more I looked at all the stuff I just think that we need role models and could I would be prevented if I don't want to have the vape pen even at school and I'm just like weed I have the knife or the gun we want to stop it before it happens and I didn't realize cuz you all gave me the information all this I didn't realize our demographic the way it is I mean basically 53% of the students are white and the other 47% are minorities of all different tact and I've got these right here I don't see anybody wants a copy or whatever but it is pie chart I just think it's really important that we look at the future of love in special of having you when I look at the students record he's got good grades he's under some different things I know and if you're not going to detail I don't want to let you know I know we can't do that but as a parent we're all one situation from things like this happening okay I don't care how well you raise your child or how you think that they're on the right way they can make bad decisions and I just don't want to make sure I don't know I don't know how we can talk about this is of War I don't know if this is something that we need to look at and see if maybe it not Zero Tolerance maybe something I don't know maybe something we can have two other teachers in our systems that meet these demographics that can be Role Models more I don't know where teacher demographics is that be a great thing to see but I I think that's how a community as we have to reach out I think we have to look at who were serving and that's really important how we can get ahead of this instead of saying oh no this happened or I know we had a student to try to take their life or something like that we need to be preventive and that's the whole kiwi after I read through this file that I mean I tried to put myself in that mother situation if they're not here and they're not going to do it you know we're not going to be can't take any action that's fine but I just want to make sure invoice that because that's you know we're all and if situations where we never know you know where we might not have a dad a reminder have a mom or that you know there's so many different scenarios I just definitely want to be in there and feel for those Student Center I don't want to distract him and you know we're talkin about 3rd grade retention. You know how that can be so detrimental sometimes you know he's holding people back and I don't want to do that with anything else will we maybe can push his self that was all I wanted to say hello in good morning yes sir we have a request to review policy 1.400 that school board meetings two regular meetings estate recommending divorce be held on the second Monday of the month unless otherwise specified at 5 p.m. the main thing is when cats are out there to see I mean I took me 20 minutes to get from the other side of town I know it's very hard for parents that were actually come to these meetings or anybody else I would like to maybe potentially look at maybe 6:00 would be a starting time instead of all the other County Commission my quick what time do you all need for confirmation at 7 p.m. 7 p.m. you know it doesn't have to be 7 p.m. but any later time like after 6 that would allow parents or whoever to get here if you work in Nashville you get off at 5 there's no way you can be here at 5 just a lot of different things allow it's just something to kind of start you different options aboard I know it takes a walk into last minute and I thought I had 20 minutes as though it's just one of those things I would like us to consider and talk about we don't have to make the Motions at this meeting but I would like to talk about it and future meetings and what y'all think and see what you thought we've had them out of lipo and since I'm in your 36 years and it's waiting no problem now we got to throw okay and all this kind of stuff so you know I don't want to change the oil and you want to change something every time we come and I don't understand you want to change something every time I change it I don't know why I'll just one perfect until you always want to change something I don't know I mean it is not true if you don't change you don't look at that has not changed just to do it I'm not asking just to change stuff to make cause more trouble I'm actually change so we can grow and then that's a lot of times I don't allow the people to have voices and come can be here and I can come and go that's the whole thing when I guess what I'm saying is I want to make sure there's no option just like us talking about that I don't have no options for us to be a distraction for my students from our from our parents or anything do we have to change I mean like I mean it says Monday second Monday but yet I'm in here we are meeting on Tuesday to make a change on the timer I already know we would have to go on the time we have we have leeway within the policy when we have changes of calendar we've had holidays the summer was shifted from a morning to an evening so we have did those but it's been plenty of notice ahead of time if we wanted to make it standard it would need to be a policy of maybe I was going to both anything else on man not food service menu pricing Greece board each year the cap to your program has an audit State came in the Maze and kept to do a premise Ballard sake and that the auditor knows it's been discussed at the motion we change the food service menu prices running starting lunch so it's still the best deal in town very good food in the state with a right we're at 2nd 15th and average pay we moved up from number 18 Saturday out that one I think was tram ANH ihr talks about is how the other pieces we can for Xander and budget time that we've got some Masters and Longevity and some other ways to provide continue that trend there's never been a time since I believe you are correct and that's right we're at night cuz I'm in pain can I mean I think that's the most important thing you do is pay the teachers because I got to drop you off some real tough job trying to get everybody I'm going to go against giving the Teachers Lounge Let It Go is it Arrangement we're not showing enough interest and sounds of rain next item Tisa our new funding formula that is implemented this year we'll get our February. Prospective for next year they're two items with Tisha that that will discuss as we come to the end of the year we had outcomes funding and we all my growth fund that will use that will looked at allocate noodle I got last time I have artist that performed should be finalized within the next week I'll have that for the April meeting I'll have it before then for your review but that's look at all of our break down schools are five-year projections where growth is anticipated to look forward to that arriving as well Revenue expenditure summary decided we have a posted a positive in our local option sales tax every month except for December which is reflective of October so we are wearing an overage which is a good place to be with local option sales tax and obviously property taxes will continue to come in and we'll hope to have that number in our April meeting next up and learning update did you have questions on on right now we have just started our survey for summer school for this year with our teachers we have about 67 teachers interested in taking part in teaching for summer will start sending out surveys to parents do you have children in row we will offer summer school again for kindergarten Rising kindergarten through eighth-grade so we'll have those children in our schools this summer the majority of those probably will be two third grade student our project is right now looking at our mock assessment we're looking at around 293rd graders as possibly qualifying for summer school and then you have your extensions and appeals that isn't so they would come out of that that's a little bit lower than last year we had about 310 that we projected as being a part of summer school but we won't know until we actually have scores back exactly how many qualified but we have that going Brenda Blevins will be alright mayor of summer school again this year that's the role she'll schedule and take on part of that as one of the administrators of summer school right now we're watching our fourth grade required to bring students and we have 68 season now dinner in that required tutoring so we're monitoring them to make sure they're going to hoping they'll get to the adequate grow some has been identified through special education that will now have 90 or 50 for that may prove being from having to make adequate growth and men will work with the others to see where we are with that we've also had our mid-year screeners and we did show growth in ela and math I'm about Sagittarius moving from we can meet here so we're excited about that as a district we're seeing the growth there in our Ela and math. Ela and math is what's counted for accountability and our designations and we are very excited to say that we had three schools that were designated as reward schools this year we have Coles Ferry Elementary, Castle Heights Elementary, and Jones from the elementary they were all designated as a reward school so we're excited to celebrate with him they shown growth and achievement and all of the different accountability designations with absenteeism with Elpa and our special groups student group so we're proud of them and will be celebrated across the district for those three reward schools board meeting schedule for April 8th counters that's good that would be the actual correct?
